First Ever Hatchet

Made with what I thought was White Ash when I was a-swinging the hatchet....but turns out to be 'somekinda' maple we think.

Have it to the floor tillering stage

Here is the sum total of two and a half days work.

One to cut the tree down with the hatchet, one to cut the man sized sections out and carry them out of the woods. And a half days work making wedges from branches and splitting. I chose to go with the Pile driver method...use one loge to whack on the wedges and hatchet to split the other..he he

You can see the branch wedges need the end of the split logs, and the full log is the one used as a piledriver.
